Zusammenfassung:In this work we will study the preparation of monodisperse chiral nematicshells with planar boundary conditions by fabricating glass capillary microfluidic device. The spherical geometry of the shell imposes topological constraints results in the formation of defects. In this paper, we study chiral nematic shells of two different shell thicknesses. This work extends the knowledge of cholesteric structures and position of defects when chiral nematic confines to shells. Our experiments elucidate where these defects are located in the ground state of the system and consistency of total charge with Poincaré–Hopf theorem.
