La rénovation d'un quartier populaire de Bordeaux et ses effets sur le patrimoine matériel et immatériel

This article deals with the transformations over time of a district of the historic center of Bordeaux, Mériadeck. In particular, it attempts to describe the architectural upheavals that occurred during the 1960s and continued until the 1990s, as well as their effects on local heritage, both tangible and intangible. Identifying on the one hand the cultural singularities of this popular district, still perceptible in the 1950s before its demolition, on the other hand the peculiarities and the richness of its habitat, this article highlights the rupture caused by its total renovation. Beyond the reasons used to justify the destruction of this historic district, history reveals an 18th century architecture similar to that of many famous Bordeaux neighborhoods, classified since 2007 as UNESCO heritage, as well as cultural practices. and a folklore arousing attempts at memorial preservation.
