Impact of educational workshops for the conservation and protection of forests in the environmental education of children

The article refers to an educational strategy based on educational workshops to strengthen ecological environmental culture related to the protection and conservation of forests in children. 180 students from the Intercultural Education Unit in Santiago de Quito, Colta canton were part of the research. The workshops promoted meaningful learning by means of the active participation of students, who assimilated the contents by connecting new learnings with their prior knowledge and family experiences. Using the Pearson Chi-square test, significant relationships were established between the educational workshops and the improvement in the positive criteria for forest protection and conservation.
