Singularity and perspectives of educational research in Latin America

The analysis of the characteristics of educational research is significant, because of the social importance of education and the process of training of professionals linked to education. These conceptions motivated the present study with the objective of characterizing educational research in Latin America, for which qualitative methodology is used. It constitutes a documentary research that reviews critically and allows the theoretical systematization of educational research in Latin America. It highlights as the most important purpose of educational research to generate changes and transformations that respond to socio-educational problems, to improve coverage, quality and equity and convert research and information into tools for political decision-making.
