Engineering Novel Metalloproteins: Design of Metal-Binding Sites into Native Protein Scaffolds

The protein design process can be divided into two steps: the design of overall scaffold and the design of active sites. Lu et al focus on the creation of metal-binding sites in existing proteins with characteristic scaffolds by de novo design or by the redesign of existing sites.
