Zusammenfassung:The mammalian genome contains multiple genetic factions with distinct interests in the outcomes of interactions among kin. In the context of an offspring’s relations with its mother, these factions are proposed to align into two ‘parties’, one favoring increased demand by offspring and the other favoring reduced demand. A possible alignment has inhibitors of demand located on the X chromosome and enhancers of demand located on autosomes, because X-linked loci are maternally derived two-thirds of the time by contrast to autosomal loci which are maternally derived half of the time.
