DIGITÁLNE KOMPETENCIE INFORMAČNÝCH PROFESIONÁLOV: Informačný profesionál – knihovník 2.0

The study focused on the issue of new competencies related to information and communication technologies which are necessary to operate in the digital environment. It defines the terms information professionals and librarian 2.0, digital literacy and digital competences. It introduces the typo logy of required skills of information professionals, and digital literacy as an extension of digital skills. The author points to ambiguity and overlapping of definitions of digital literacy and digital competences, and analyzes in detail the digital competencies of information professionals, all in the context of current functioning of libraries and information institutions, education in library and information science, the librarian profession and the satisfying of specific user information requirements.
