Zusammenfassung:In a recent study of 40 adults with acute demyelinating episodes,16 26 had isolated events consistent with a diagnosis of ADEM, whereas additional neurologic symptoms developed within a year in the other 14, who were thus given a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Forty-five percent of the patients with ADEM had had previous infections, as compared with only 14 percent of the patients with multiple sclerosis.
