Zusammenfassung: | The primary objective is to argue the case for including the study of great books in the business field as an integral part of doctoral education management. In making this argument, the author will avoid the elitist position that management scholars are not truly educated unless they master the great books of the field. The author's goals are more modest: 1. Examine writings on great books, in general, and extrapolate from that literature in order to suggest the qualities that make a management book great. 2. Describe an approach the author has used in his doctoral seminar that enables students to integrate the content of the great books of management and obtain at least some insights into their collective content. |
