Anomalous Notch Rupture Behavior of Nickel-Based Superalloy Inconel 718 Due to Fabrication by Additive Manufacturing

Tensile, creep, stress rupture, and notch rupture testing at 650 °C of Inconel 718 prepared by Laser Powder-Bed Fusion showed properties similar to traditional wrought versions of the alloy except for notch rupture, where all samples failed in the notch with no elongation. The notch rupture results...

Zusammenfassung:Tensile, creep, stress rupture, and notch rupture testing at 650 °C of Inconel 718 prepared by Laser Powder-Bed Fusion showed properties similar to traditional wrought versions of the alloy except for notch rupture, where all samples failed in the notch with no elongation. The notch rupture results were not sensitive to solution treatment above or below the delta solvus temperature, which is also not characteristic of wrought material.
