Zusammenfassung:This experiment tests for a positive effect of performance-contingent, extrinsic incentives (financial rewards and public recognition) on the quality of frequency assessments. Fifty-one graduate business school subjects in (1) equal payment and (2) equal payment plus performance-contingent incentives conditions provided frequency distribution assessments for three variables the subjects were familiar with. Performance-contingent, extrinsic incentives consistently resulted in more accurate frequency assessments ( p < .001). Significant anchoring effects were not indicated.
