Zusammenfassung: | We present a framework for assessing the interaction of display resolution, display size, and video compression in the context of visual acuity. We review retinal topology in the context of several kinds of acuity: reading (optotype) acuity; grating acuity; and hyperacuity. We show that display resolution and field‐of‐view combinations correspond to each level of visual acuity. We also show how quantization of spatial‐frequency coefficients in video compression relates to each level of visual acuity. |
