Zusammenfassung: | We propose a high dynamic range (HDR) mini‐LED enhanced liquid crystal display (LCD) system. Through both numerical simulations and human visual perception experiments, we find that the halo effect (light leakage between adjacent black and bright pixels) can be suppressed to unnoticeable level by optimizing the LCD contrast ratio, number of local dimming zones, LED light expansion and local light confinement. The benefits and problems of each solution are discussed in detail. Additionally, with the merits of low power consumption, freeform panel shape and thin profile, mini‐LED backlit LCDs is emerging as a strong contender for next‐generation HDR displays. |
