Zusammenfassung:The synthesis of 2-hydroxybenzylidene-4-[(aza, thio)xantenyl]anilines has been carried out via the reaction of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde, aniline, and (aza, thio)xanthydrol in acetic acid or ethanol medium. Two competing pathways leading the formation of 2-hydroxybenzylidene-4-[(aza, thio)xantenyl]anilines have been revealed by means of chromato-mass spectrometry. The growth-regulating activity of 2-hydroxybenzylidene-4-(5 H -benzopyrano[2,3- b ]-pyridin-5-yl)aniline towards spring wheat (Gornouralskaya variety) has been studied.
