•Synthesis of graphene/phthalocyanine nanocomposite by simple 3-step method.•Nanocomposite characterized by different characterization tools.•Evaluation of nanocomposite as electrocatalyst towards oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline solution.•Nanocomposite exhibit better performances than pristine individuals.•Synergistic effect of graphene with phthalocyanine enhance the electrocatalystic performance.
In search of alternatives of Platinum-based electrocatalysts, graphene – Phthalocyanine composites are under recent research focus. We, therefore, in this study, have addressed and explored the electrochemical performances of graphene/copper phthalocyanine nanocomposites towards oxygen reduction reaction. It is found that, graphene functionalized copper phthalocyanine show better catalytic activity than bare phthalocyanine nanostructure, which may be attributed to the π-π interaction between the components and higher conductivity of graphene in the composite. |
