Zusammenfassung:In the last century, Sir Halford Mackinder recognised that British policy needed to adapt to changing geopolitical circumstances. Mackinder, considered the "father of geopolitics," advanced an argument in defense of tariffs as a bulwark of power. His short pamphlet, "Money-Power and Man-Power," was published in London in 1906 and is reprinted here.1 It is introduced by two scholars who find compelling historical parallels to the United States' economic situation today.
