Zusammenfassung:The coauthors of this initial critical annotated bibliography on Central American film and video hope to provide a resource guide to the growing body of descriptive and investigative writing generated by these artistic and political interpretations of the troubled region. The criteria for the selection of items are broad-based and include published writing on fiction and non-fiction films produced in Central America, as well as films produced elsewhere with Central America as the subject. The bibliographical items include books, articles, pamphlets, reviews (not annotated), interviews with directors and other cineastes, and scripts; their scope encompasses the history, criticism, and theory of the cinemas involved. An exposé of the prointerventionist film produced by the American Security Council for U.S. television showings, and the counter-attack made by the Coalition for Human Rights in Central America. Central America is mentioned in the context of foreign policy issues and mass media in this thematic overview of issue-oriented films.
