"Those Pure Pages of Yours": Bronson Alcott's Conversations with Children on the Gospels

Bronson Alcott's "Conversations" was a work that illuminated a number of issues that demarcated the intellectual arena of the religious debate of the 1800s. The conversations were based on a series of 50 discussions Alcott conducted with his pupils regarding the Bible. Alcott's interview process, which was based on a belief that children were more God-like than adults, is discussed.
