Zusammenfassung:The story of the African-Canadian community of Africville in Halifax, Nova Scotia, can be seen as an allegory of the African-Canadian experience, particularly in Nova Scotia. The fact that the Africville community remains intact, even though its physical structure was destroyed, has prompted a recognition of the strong community basis of black history in Canada. Indeed, it can be argued that a focus on the black community is the most vital element in understanding African-Canadian history.
