Zusammenfassung:Globally wounds are responsible for significant proportion of mortality and morbidity. Ancient dressings were passive, functioning as a physical barrier to pathogens. The science and technological advancement in the field of biomaterials provide a major breakthrough in the evolution of active wound dressings which interacts with the host system and aids in wound healing. Wound dressing market is expanding its horizons vertically manufact uring resorbable wound dressings at nano scale. Chitosan is the most abundant polymer ranking next to cellulose. This review addresses the different physical forms of chitosan at the nanoscale such as composites, sponge, fiber, film for wound healing.
