Zusammenfassung: | By middle school and high school, Black and Brown youth are disproportionately likely to encounter police or experience punitive zero-tolerance policies. As schools that serve predominantly Black and Brown youth are increasingly militarized through the presence of surveillance cameras, metal detectors, and armed police officers, in turn, it is critical to be aware of how they internalize their militarized school and community surroundings. Here, a lesson plan for teaching Black youth empowerment is presented. |
