Zusammenfassung:The crystal structure of 4,4'-substituted phenyl benzoate CH 2 =C(CH 3 )–COO–C 6 H 4 –COO–C 6 H 4 –O–С 9 Н 19 has been investigated by X-ray diffraction. The crystal packing of this compound consists of alternating loose aliphatic and closely packed aromatic regions, which are typical of mesogenic crystals. However, weak directional interactions, responsible for the formation of structured melt, are absent in aromatic regions. Therefore, this compound does not exhibit mesomorphic properties both during melting and upon cooling the isotropic melt.
