Zusammenfassung: | French novelist Maurice Barres was strongly influenced by anarchism from 1890 to 1896, only later turning toward fascism. He attended an anarchist meeting in 1890 and wrote articles sympathetic to anarchism. The anarchist influence, derived mainly from Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, is seen in Barres' belief in extreme individualism and revolutionary violence. Beginning in 1894, he attempted to synthesize collectivism and anarchy. After 1897, Barres moved to the right and was clearly a fascist. |
