Trying to Make a Film: A Conversation with Margarethe von Trotta

Kress and Boyers interview German filmmaker Margarethe von Trotta. Among other things, von Trotta talks about the collaborative planning to make a film built around Hannah Arendt whom she considered the most significant figure at the beginning of the 21st century. The filmmaker believes that taking Arendt on as a subject would provide a better understanding of her interpretation of totalitarianism and communism which was more far-sighted than anyone of the leftist generation.
