Although colleges and universities are highly regarded for academics, they are also broadly criticized for inefficiency, indifference to external constituencies, and resistance to change. Helping institutions address the underlying causes of these problems while maintaining the commitment to academic excellence is the fundamental challenge facing organizational development programs in higher education. This article provides a brief case study of one such effort: the Rutgers University Program for Organizational Development and Leadership. |
