Zusammenfassung:Having skipped grades earlier, he graduated at a young age, too young, his parents thought, for Harvard, so the family traveled the world for a year, providing Schlesinger with a cosmopolitan outlook that never left him (he returned to Europe after graduating from Harvard and throughout his life). Schlesinger's senior thesis was published fairly soon after he graduated in 1938, with the guidance of both his father and his mentor Bernard DeVoto, a novelist, magazine editor, and popular historian of the West.
