Zusammenfassung: | Terry talks about Association of Arab American University Graduates Inc (AAUG), whose members are combined with academic rigor with political commitment and activism. Among other things, unlike most Arab-American organizations, AAUG was not a patriarchy. It welcomed full participation by women, several of whom including Elaine Hagopian, Faith Zeadeh and later Ghada Talhami and Hala Maksoud became presidents. However, in spite of the achievement, women were not represented in leadership positions in the numbers comparable to the membership, in which Hisham Sharabi addressed this issue at an AAUG conventions. |
