Mangoes and Poetry

Mutti discusses a celebration in the Indian city of Lucknow in honor of mangoes and the nineteenth-century Urdu poet, Mirza Ghalib. Ghalib is reputed to have personally tried most of India's four thousand varieties of mango. In fact, he is said to have preferred eating mangoes to writing poetry.
