Zusammenfassung: | •The microstructure was refined by friction stir back extrusion (FSBE) process.•For the 475 rpm rotational speed, the grain size decreased to its minimum value.•The overall texture intensity of FSBE processed wires significantly decreased.•Higher rotational speed led to lower texture intensity near to a random texture.
In the present study, the friction stir back extrusion (FSBE) as a new method for wire production was utilized. The microstructure investigated by optical microscopy and macrotexture analyzed by X-ray diffraction. Results showed the microstructure was refined by FSBE process. For the 475 rpm rotational speed, the grain size decreased to its minimum value i.e. 15.5 μm. The overall texture intensity of FSBE processed wires significantly decreased compared to the starting material. Moreover, the texture was dependent on the rotational speed. The higher rotational speed led to lower texture intensity near to a random texture. |
