Zusammenfassung: | Russian (manufacturing) industry has a hard time for competing for customer satisfaction. In the domestic market both corporate customers and final consumers tend to prefer imports. In this study, we consider instruments employed by companies in Northwest Russia to change the situation. A survey approach is employed, collecting information from a statistical sample of companies. In the next section, we discuss the traditional approach to quality management developed during the Soviet era, while the current survey is briefly introduced in the following section. The main results, broken down by company size (and sector), are presented in the next section, and further on a few comparative findings are reported referring to the results of the various Quality and Economic Development project (QED) studies from the first half of the 1990s. |
