Although Will Day was the first person to develop the idea of a motion picture museum, and exhibited his collection at the Science Museum in London, the true institutional pioneers were Henri Langlois in Paris and Maria Adriana Prolo in Turin. Robinson surveys their work, and that of other European film museum designer/directors, with special focus on the history of London's Museum of the Moving Image.
