Zusammenfassung: | Inadequate winter-feeding management practices and feedstuff selection decisions frequently contribute to the lack of profitability in Southern cow-calf enterprises. This study addresses the benefits cowcalf producers can gain from using linear programming to assist in choosing a low-cost winter-feeding program. Several supplemental feedstuffs and winter forages were considered in determining the least-cost winter-feeding program for a group of fifty fall-calving cows and a group of fifty spring-calving cows. |
