Six causes of the credit crunch (Or, why is it so hard to get a loan?)

Bank lending typically moves with the business cycle, but in Texas from 1987-1992, bank loans declined while nonagricultural employment rose. Reasons for the banks' reduced willingness and ability to supply loans are examined.
