Zusammenfassung:Microalgae are natural producers of various biochemical compounds such as protein, lipid, carotenoids and fatty acids. However, the biochemical composition of microalgae can vary depending on species, culture conditions as well as composition of culture media. This research aims to compare the growth and proximate composition of Scenedesmus obliquus and Selenastrum bibraianum cultured in different media and culture conditions. In the present study, S. obliquus and S. bibraianum were cultured in two different media (BBM and Bristol) under control and natural conditions. Results revealed the highest growth of S. obliquus when cultured in BBM under control condition. Nonetheless, S. obliquus accredited the highest lipid (42.6 ± 0.01%) and carbohydrate content (27.7 ± 0.02%) when cultured in Bristol media under control condition. On the other hand, the highest protein content (44.7 ± 0.00%) was obtained in S. bibraianum when cultured in Bristol media under natural condition. The findings from this study can be used in cultivation of S. obliquus and S. bibraianum using the optimum growth condition for specific purposes of either to obtain a higher biomass growth or better biochemical conformation.
