President's page: strategic planning--a vision of our future

A report by the President of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) describes the rationale for a strategic plan for providing the context for formulating ADA's long-range plan. Criteria for selecting the members of ADA's Strategic Planning Committee (SPC), appointed in March 1987, and the names and affiliations of the Committee chairman and members are described. It is noted that the strategic planning process is an extension of ADA's long-range plan, identifying the future, desired state, and long-range goals and annual action plans of the ADA. The actions of the SPC during its first meeting in June 1987 are discussed.(wz)
