Zusammenfassung: | The surface changes associated with the earliest stages of oxidation of basal plane highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) electrode surfaces are examined. Atomic force microscopy, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy show that the surface blisters formed by application of potentials from positive 1.5 to positive 1.63 V vs SSCE in 1.0 m KNO3 are from 20 to 1,000 nm high and from 0.5 to 50 micrometers at the base. |
