Zusammenfassung:The business climate in western German trade and industry worsened slightly in January 2007. Although the current business situation was still assessed as very favourable, the Index fell slightly in comparison to the previous month. This could have been the result of the strong increase in VAT at the beginning of the year. In the business expectations, increased confidence was expressed. It can be assumed that after a slight dampening economic activity will continue to be robust in the coming months.
