This book is a written version of the lectures delivered by Professor Franco Modigliani at Bocconi University, Italy, in memory of late Raffaele Mattioli. Since Mr. Mattioli served as a manager and chairman of Banca Commerciale Italiana, his influence on making of stabilization policies of Italy is unquestionable. In the light of this, the four lectures delivered by Professor Modigliani touched all the theoretical aspects in macroeconomics, with a special reference to evaluating the stabilization policy options that are available to any economy. It is therefore "thought provoking," if not absolutely exciting, to read the basic theoretical ideas put forward in a fresh manner and in a strong Keynesian perspective.
