Zusammenfassung: | Water supplies are increasingly over-allocated as population growth, urbanization, prolonged and severe droughts, and climate change affect water quantity and quality. According to AWWA's 2018 State of the Water Industry Survey, only 24% of utility respondents felt their utility was fully prepared to meet long-term water supply needs. With more demand for freshwater resources, a diversified portfolio of supply and demand management options can contribute to economic and environmental sustainability. To this end, many communities are expanding water conservation efforts while seeking new strategies to ensure that their water supplies meet future demands. Here, an update on AWWA's focus on water reuse is discussed. |
