Criterion for existence of a bound state in one dimension
Let V(x)≢0 be a one-dimensional potential which vanishes outside some interval. A well-known fact is that a bound state must exist if V(x)⩽0 for all x or even if V(x) satisfies the weaker condition ∫V(x)dx
