Using Bioinformatics in the Undergraduate Classroom

The potential of bioinformatics has been discovered five years back during a BioQUEST workshop. The BioQUEST Curriculum Consortium, founded in 1986 collaboratively develops innovative student-centered curriculum materials for teaching undergraduate biology. According to Garry Duncan, who discovered the potential of bioinformatics, engaging students in biology courses is challenging but using BioQUEST's approach to teaching bioinformatics provides opportunities for students to create their own knowledge and develop a more positive and inquisitive attitude.
