Access to the Upper Forest Canopy with a Large Tower Crane

The use of a tower crane with a long horizontal jib for studying the uppermost forest canopy is reported. A cage containing the investigators and equipment can be lowered to the canopy from above. The advantages of being able to approach the forest canopy from above were discussed.
