Zusammenfassung:For more than 35 years, organizational theorists have predicted the design of modern-day corporations and the activities of business managers. Some of the most widely debated articles of the 1960s and 1970s are reviewed, the accuracy of predictions contained in those works are assessed, the underlying currents that have shaped modern-day businesses are identified, and future developments are suggested. The predictions of Simon (1973) and Whistler (1974) are examined.
