Vera Evison (1918–2018)

Webster and Hills presents an obituary for archaeologist Vera Evison. Evison was born and lived all her life in London. She had a successful academic career at a time when this was very difficult for a woman who entered university as a mature student, and did not possess independent means. Her research was characterized by the breadth of her knowledge of continental archaeology. Connections between Anglo-Saxon England and Germany and Scandinavia have long been recognized.
