Zusammenfassung: | Purpose: To examine how the ethical ideology of a manager can influence his / her intention to engage morally right action at workplace Design/methodology/approach: This study distributed survey questionnaire to 350 operation managers from four and five star hotel in Malaysia. The data was analyzed by using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with smart PLS 3.0. Findings: There is a significant influence of attitude and ethical ideology on managers' ethical intention to behave ethically, especially attitude played the strongest influences. Besides that ethical ideology also significant affected managers' attitude to behave ethically. Furthermore, ethical ideology also has an indirect and positive effect on managers' ethical intention through its influences on attitude. This indicated that there is a partially mediation influences of ethical ideology on ethical intention via attitude. Research limitations/implications: Through the findings of the study, it suggested that the role of ethical ideology crucially impact how managers' ethical intention to engage in decision when encounter ethical dilemma. This provides further support for the possibility that this effect may improve organizational culture by enhancing the intentional act of the managers. Practical implications: A true and positive attitude is essential to guide managers in engaging ethically right action. A positive attitude will not only strengthened individual's belief that good intention to engage ethically right, but also able to gain the confidence and trust from stakeholders and shareholders. |
