Estimating the Operational Lifespan of Transverse Single-Mode Laser Diodes from Their Spectral Characteristics

A way of predicting the operational lifespan of transverse single-mode laser diodes, based on analyzing the form factor of the envelope of its emission spectrum at the initial stage of operation, is proposed.
