POWs in the Piney Woods: German Prisoners of War in the Southern Lumber Industry, 1943-1945
During WWII, most of the German prison camps were in the US South and Southwest, and many were within range of southern lumber operations. An examination of the use of German prisoners as laborers in the southern lumber industry is offered.
