Zusammenfassung:The Local Arrangements Committee - consisting of Emily Bingham, chair; James M. Beeby, Indiana University Southeast; A. Glenn Crothers and Mark Wetherington, both of the Filson Historical Society; Judi Jennings, Kentucky Foundation for Women; and Catherine Fosl, Tracy E. K'Meyer, and Thomas C. Mackey, all of the University of Louisville - have organized a number of special activities for those attending the meeting, including bus and walking tours, films on Anne Braden and Kentucky's history, a special session at the Filson Historical Society, and a performance by the Juggernaut Jug Band, a great Louisville musical tradition, at our opening night ceremony. All graduate students and junior faculty members (within three years of completion of their doctorates) who are presenting papers at this year's meeting are encouraged to submit their papers for consideration for the William F. Holmes Award for the best paper given at the annual meeting. The Nominating Committee for 2009, consisting of Valinda W. Littlefield, University of South Carolina, chair; Kathleen C. Berkeley, University of North Carolina at Wilmington; Peter Kolchin, University of Delaware; Joseph P. Reidy, Howard University; and Daniel H. Usner, Vanderbilt University, requests suggestions from the SHA membership for the office of vice president/president-elect and members of the Executive Council.
