FRANKLIN LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD The first John Hope Franklin Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Leon F. Litwack, Alexander F. and May T. Morrison Professor of American History, Emeritus, at the University of California at Berkeley, where he taught from 1964 until his retirement in May 2007.\n Doctoral students doing dissertation research, independent scholars, and journalists are encouraged to apply.
