Hermann-Broch-Handbuch ed. by Michael Kessler and Paul Michael Lützeler (review)

Based on anecdotal evidence, such as conversations with students and colleagues, I can report that the proliferation of author-handbooks in recent years is not uniformly praised. [...]I can attest that it was a valuable reading, which allowed me to refresh existing knowledge while identifying gaps and areas for possible future exploration. With this in mind, Broch-skeptics may want to start at the end of the handbook, with Gunther Martens's "Grundzüge, Schwerpunkte, Desiderate"; and those looking for systematic intellectual-historical and critical comparisons between Broch and his contemporaries are advised to refer to Thomas Borgard's essay on Broch's philosophical writings and Barbara Picht's on Broch's political writings.
